What is Gish? Gish stands for Greatest International Scavenger Hunt, however that is a question that cannot be defined by one simple definition. What was once Gishwhes, Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, isn’t just a scavenger hunt anymore. Gish is a beacon of hope, for some. For others it is a ridiculous interference from their work and everyday life. Gish to me is a week to connect with my family, have fun, express myself in weird creative and wacky ways, and to try to make a difference in a world that is packed plum full of unreasonable pain and suffering. Misha has created a whole network of people who come together to have fun and change the world one item at a time. Together we fight against hunger, poverty, racial injustice, and for equality for all, and a whole list of other things. Misha has decided to use his power, connections, fame, money, and time to invest in creating a brighter future and an improved world. Now while Gish has the right intentions at its core it sometimes can feel like a bad one night stand. After the short Mini Gish hunt my and my fiance’s back were in much needed massage after working tirelessly until we fell asleep in the bed of a truck, my parents house was a mess afterwards. It had us all saying “it seemed like a good idea at the time”, Nevertheless we had so much fun. I am beyond proud to be a part of a community as dedicated to making change fun, wacky, and heartfelt. I will continue to participate in Gish for as long as I possibly can. Gish is the beginning of a revolution for a better goofier world, and I am proud to be living in that world. Gish is the future in the making. We rise as Woosters, Dinomites, Fograts, Possubulls, Elopuses, and Slangaroos to bring a healthier, more accepting, brighter future. Gish aims to Connect people by finding objects, friendships, and the humanity we have lost, Grow by challenging people to challenge themselves in new ways, Engage by testing peoples audacity, chutzpah, and compassion, Spread Kindness by changing the world with random acts of kindness, Create by putting new creative artworks, writings, inventions, and ideas into the world, and by promoting Death 2 Normalcy by defying and challenging all things and ideas considered “socially acceptable and normal”. Gish is paving a way into a world worth living in, a world where kindness, compassion, goofiness, equality, an extreme decrease or extinction of poverty, and an extreme decrease or extinction of hunger is socially acceptable and demanded. Gish is making sure every life is not only surviving but that every life is thriving and happy. So no there isn’t one definition that can accurately describe just what Gish is, but just know that Gish is the beginning of something magnificent. So join us in the hunt, it’s never too late to make a change.
